Chevrolet S10 Bolt Pattern (1982-2022)

The Chevrolet S10, or simply the S10 is a midsize pickup truck manufactured by General Motors. The S10 is known for being just enough truck for those that need the benefits and towing capability of a truck but do not necessarily need the cost and capabilities of a full size truck. Regardless of why you have yours, eventually you are going to need to know the S10 bolt pattern.

If you have a Chevy S10 that was made between 1982 and 2011, then it has a bolt pattern of 5×4.75 inches (5×120.65mm) and a 2.77 inch (70.3mm) center bore. This version of the S10 uses 5 lug nuts that have a thread size of M12 x 1.5. These lug nuts need to be tightened down to 95 ft lbs. Later Chevy S10 trucks, however, that were made between 2012 and 2016 have a bolt pattern of 6×5.5 inches (6×139.7mm) and use 6 lug nuts that have a thread size of M12 x 1.5 that need to be tightened to 140 ft lbs. For this range of years, the Chevy S10 has a center bore of 3.95 inches(100.3mm).

This is not all the info that you need, though. Life could never be that easy. We do, however, aim to make it a little bit easier. In this article, we will go over the Chevy S10 bolt pattern in more detail for each generation.

We will also give you links for the exact lug nuts to use on your Chevy S10. After that, we will discuss the center bore and torque specs for each generation in detail. Finally, we will key you in on all the different tire and rim sizes that are available with each generation’s various engine configurations.

Chevy S10 Wheel Fitment Guide

If you plan on doing any serious wheel or tire work on your truck, then you are going to need to know a lot more than just the Chevy S10 bolt pattern. Even though we detailed all of the various factors above such as center bore diameter, wheel tightening torque, lug nut size, and the thread size of the bolts, you are still going to need to know each tire and rim option that came with each engine configuration of each Chevy S10 generation.

Properly Tightening The Bolts

Depending on the generation you have, the Chevy S10 uses either 5 or 6 lug nuts. Regardless of how many there are, these lug nuts must be tightened in a specific, crisscross pattern. They also have to be tightened to a specific torque level. You can, of course, find all of this information in your Chevy S10 user manual, but it’s a lot easier to have everything here on one screen.

The first thing to do is tighten the bolts with a normal hand wrench first. Don’t tighten the lug nuts down all the way just yet. That will make it hard to get your lug nuts all torqued down to their proper level.

After you get them all on there, use a proper torque wrench to tighten your Chevy S10 lug nuts to the appropriate amount of pressure. For Chevy S10 trucks made before 2011, this is 95 ft lbs. If your S10 was made after 2011, then the lugs need to be tightened to 140 ft lbs.

Conclusion

The Chevrolet S10 is a midsize pickup truck that provides most of the utility of a full size truck without the associated costs. These trucks are real reliable, but you will still eventually need to know the S10 bolt pattern.

If your Chevy S10 that was manufactured between 1982 and 2011, it’s got a bolt pattern of 5×4.75 inches (5×120.65mm) and a 2.77 inch (70.3mm) center bore. This S10 uses 5 lug nuts that have a thread size of M12 x 1.5 that need to be tightened down to 95 ft lbs. Chevy S10 trucks made between 2012 and 2016 have a bolt pattern of 6×5.5 inches (6×139.7mm) and use 6 lug nuts that have a thread size of M12 x 1.5 that need to be tightened to 140 ft lbs. This newer Chevy S10 has a center bore of 3.95 inches(100.3mm).
